We’ve asked some of our families/whānau why they chose our kindergarten and what they like about our service - and here’s what they had to say.

”Kelson Kindergarten is one of the first educational milestones that unites families on the Western Hills and in doing so creates a community. Michelle, Linda and Julie have a depth of teaching experience, life and culture which is nurturing, diverse and reassuring.

I love the fact that not only do I have a profile book to capture milestones but a level of interaction with the teaching team that makes my child and family feel that we have an integral role to play in their education. Useful tips and or experiences are always exchanged to help my child pursue an interest, or focus his learning at kindy and in the home.

The environment is always dynamic, bright, cheerful and safe. Whether it be cooking ‘pretend’ marshmallows and sausages on sticks by the ‘real’ tepee, having picnics with teddies, buying ice creams made from sand, swinging from ropes outside, home baking, dancing with scarves and playing shops… real life lessons are learnt as well as numeracy and literacy.  Learning is made fun.

We are fortunate to have a teaching team who are ‘educationalists’ that help us understand how and why our children learn in particular ways but also engage us as families and as a ‘village’ to raise our children.”

“I am an early childhood home-based educator and when a child in my care started at this kindy, I found the teaching team very helpful and friendly. I soon became a committee member and when the child I cared for moved on to school, I stayed on the committee, eventually becoming the chairperson. My own daughter has now started afternoon kindy at Kelson. The care, education and learning opportunities are so good that this is the only kindy I will recommend to parents.”
