Debbie, Robyn, Kirsten, along with Teacher Supports Liz and Kathy are proud of their family-friendly kindergarten. They enjoy creating an atmosphere where every child is encouraged to be themselves, and to grow and learn in their own style, at their own pace.

Our team encourage the children to be active every day at Arakura. Outside there is plenty of space to swing, climb and race trollies, while inside dressups and dancing get them moving, even on wet days.

Families and whanau are very welcome to stay and be an active part of the everyday activities at kindergarten. The teaching team is dedicated to every child under their care, and love seeing them blossom during their time at Arakura.

Our Vision

(This is our "wawata" - our dream or aspiration for our kindergarten)

We will create an environment within our Kindergarten that welcomes, nurtures and empowers children, their whānau and families.

Our Kindergarten will provide a quality learning environment that will be responsive to the child’s enquiring mind, empowering the child to see themselves as a confident and competent learner.

Our Kindergarten environment will reflect the cultures of the whānau who attend our Kindergarten. The teaching team will promote, support and celebrate the many different aspects of diversity within our Kindergarten community.

Our Philosophy

We believe in creating an environment where children and their whànau and families are valued, and empowered.

Children’s interests, learning and exploration is supported and extended in a curriculum that is led by the child’s interests.

Diversity is respected and celebrated by our teaching Team and Community.
Our environment and programme reflects our commitment to inclusion of all and the Treaty of Waitangi.
